The UK is currently grappling with pressing immigration challenges, prompting the government to take decisive action. Acknowledging the urgency, stringent guidelines have been implemented, identifying vulnerable areas in need of reform.

Starting January 1st, 2024, the government has imposed restrictions on the travel and residency of families of international students, excluding post-graduate research courses and government-funded scholarship programs. These measures follow the changes enacted in May 2023, targeting the acquisition of UK visas via alternative routes for employment in the country, projecting a significant reduction of 140,000 arrivals.

According to the Office for National Statistics, net immigration stood at 672,000 from June 2022 to June 2023, with dependent visas for students seeing a substantial increase to 152,980, marking a 930% rise since September 2019.

This initiative aims to prevent around 300,000 individuals who arrived in the UK last year from staying in the future. Additionally, the salary threshold for skilled workers' entry will rise by nearly 50% to £38,700. The government is also combatting reduced-rate labor from overseas by eliminating the 20% salary discount for positions on the shortage occupation list.

While appearing stringent, these policies aim to bring immigration to manageable levels, ensuring a fair and efficient governance approach.
